A long road to life beyond lockdown

Posted May 12th, 2010 by Maree

Last Sunday(9.05.10) the Age ran an article entitled “A long road to life beyond lockdown.”

This article illustrated how the lives of people with disabilities can change and improve when they are treated with respect and the effects of a disability are managed in a positive way so the person can start living their lives to the best of their ability.

It also shows the real value of being able to receive appropriate disability supports in the way that suits the person with the disability. Hopefully if more people with disability can see the benefits of having disability individual supports they will want to do it themselves.

If you are thinking about wanting more control over your disability supports, then go ahead and make enquiries about taking it on.  Don’t be discouraged by people who may put doubts in your mind about you being able to take it on.

So let us know your experiences about  getting your individual support established and how much control you have over it.
