Retention & Retention Resource Page
Background to R & R Community of Practice
DISTSS Inc provides learning and development opportunities and supports a culture of learning in the non-government disability sector in Victoria. Earlier this year we conducted consultations with the sector into key learning and development issues for a quality disability workforce. Consistent with other research on this workforce, recruitment and retention was identified as a significant and on-going concern. In response, DISTSS called for expressions of interest to explore these issues from people whose roles in the sector encompass these responsibilities.
Subsequently a Recruitment and Retention ‘community of practice’ action learning group has been established – resourced and facilitated by DISTSS – to address learning and strategies in this area. Currently there are 50+ members of this group.
Our focus is practical; the development and sharing of strategies rather than further defining the issues/problems, which we feel are adequately described in various existing reports and research.
